Slinfest took place on Sunday 22nd June at the Slinfold cricket ground. The afternoon consisted of a Village Fete and Sweet Pea and Rose Show which was well attended by all ages and was buzzing from the moment it opened at midday. From 4:30 pm onwards the Music Festival took place with a line up of nine fantastic bands and, with Barry Coren as MC, Slinfold was rocking!
The sun shone and the crowds throughout the day enjoyed the attractions, the food, the drink and, most of all, the music.Members of the Tennis Club made a significant contribution to the success of Slinfest with the provision of cakes, Pimms and tombola prizes and most of all the hard work of many club members on the day itself. The Pimms bar was an enormous success and made over £1,000. Slinfest made, after expenses, well over £12,000 and this is to be split three ways between the Slinfold Cricket Club, the Village Shop Association and the Slinfold Tennis Club, so the club funds will be boosted by £4,400, which is fantastic.
The Tennis Club members should be very proud of this achievement and, in particular should recognise the hard work put in by Nicky Vanstone and by Barrie and Sally Coren, without whose input the Music Festival would not have taken place.
