Sensational Slinfest!

In sensational summer sunshine, Slinfold rocked to the sound of top bands when they had their music festival, Slinfest on Sunday 14th June 2009.  Held at the Slinfold cricket ground, the band line up was first class and appealed to all musical tastes. 

Starting at 3pm, Zenrelics got the audience rocking with the sights and sounds of the 60s and 70s.  Teenage band, Eyes brought a more modern sound of electronic pop and dance. Pretty Limelight, fronted by the talented James Jardine, changed the tempo to acoustic folk indie and was followed by Goldtrip, whose more mainstream sound is influenced by world class bands like Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Coldplay, and The Killers. Divas Undaunted, an all female choir managed by talented voice coach, Kaytie Harding, Voice from the Coal Shed, held the audience spellbound with their vocal harmonies of contemporary and rock songs. 

Slinfold based band Sektus turned the volume up and provided an extreme and edgy performance and were followed by Dan Dunne and the Reels from London who are on a mission to make the main stage of V Festival.  Something Ginger treated the audience to a huge mix of covers ranging from The Beatles to The Kings of Leon.  Local 9 piece soul band, T Slammers topped Slinfest this year and brought this second successive music festival to a close playing tributes to the finest soul and blues artists from the 60s through to today. 

Slinfest was the joint collaboration of the Slinfold Cricket and Tennis clubs with main sponsorship being provided by Slinfold Country Club.  Kallend Leisure Marquees also provided major support for this event by providing the marquee and staging.   

The Slinfest Organising Committee would like to thank all their sponsors as well as the support they received in the village to enable them to organise such a prestigious event.  They would also like to thank all the bands for bringing this level of musical talent to Slinfold for the people in the local area to enjoy.  In particular, the committee would like to thank Barrie Coren, not only for fronting the talented soul band, T Slammers but also for his technical expertise with the sound and for compering the event. 

The money raised at Slinfest will provide key funding for both the Cricket and the Tennis clubs to enhance the facilities both clubs provide for the local community.
